Capital Manor Named #2 Best Non-Profit to Work for in Oregon

In today’s tight job market, employees are seeking out places of work that provide more than just a pay check.  Job seekers want a sense of engagement, they want to know they are making a difference, and they want to work in a climate built on mutual respect and support.  Capital Manor was recently recognized for fostering a work environment that provides these important characteristics and more.

Each year Oregon Business Magazine creates the 100 Best Non-Profits to work for in Oregon list.  This list is created after a detailed survey of employees is collected and analyzed.  Organizations are rated on the following categories:  Work Environment, Management and Communications, Mission and Goals, Career Development and Learning, and Benefits and Compensation.

Earlier this fall, the annual awards dinner recognizing the top 100 non-profits was held in the Governor Ballroom at the Sentinel Hotel in Portland.  Ten Capital Manor employees attended the festive occasion and received the award as a team.  The team knew they were the recipient when they heard the announcer say Capital Manor’s new motto and described the organization as one committed to both residents and staff “Embracing a Better Life, Embracing Life Better.”

“It was hard not to cry,” said Maria Byron, Residency Counselor, at Capital Manor when describing the emotion of being called up on stage to accept the award.  “I am so proud to work at Capital Manor.  I believe so strongly in what we do for our residents.”

Kristina McNutt, Life Enrichment Coordinator, described the supportive environment she has found at Capital Manor, “Capital Manor is my home away from home.  The people here are my second family,” she shared.

Capital Manor is the only Non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community in Salem.  The community serves seniors 62 years of age and older, offering an enriched, active lifestyle on 37 acres.  Residents can keep enjoying their independent lifestyle, knowing that if they ever need care, they’ll receive high quality residential care, memory care and nursing services.
