Capital Manor collects nearly 200 hundred toys for Family Building Blocks
December 24, 2011The residents and employees of Capital Manor held their second annual Toy Drive this month with Family Building Blocks families as the beneficiary. The Toy Drive kicked off at a Civil War luncheon in November where residents and guests were invited to fill boxes with donated toys to show who they wished to win the Oregon/Oregon State Football game. Unlike the game, the toy drive between the two universities ended a tie. The real winner though, was Family Building Blocks, a non-profit organization in Salem which works to present child abuse and neglect. "Gracie's Place", one of two relief nurseries run by FBB, is just down the road from Capital Manor and several residents volunteer there. It made for a natural relationship and the response was overwhelming. Go to Family Building Blocks for more information.
